Our robust Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), built on a Response to Intervention (RTI) model, ensures that students receive the right support at the right time. This structured approach allows us to identify individual learning needs early and provide targeted interventions that help all students thrive.

Our RTI model is grounded in high-quality, evidence-based instruction for all students (Tier 1), delivered through explicit teaching routines across all classrooms. Teachers use ongoing assessment and data to monitor student progress and identify those who may need additional support. Students who require further help (Tier 2) participate in small-group interventions focused on specific skill gaps, such as phonics, fluency, or comprehension. For those needing more intensive support (Tier 3), we provide highly targeted, individualised instruction, often in collaboration with specialist staff.

We are proud that Sacred Heart has been recognised by Dyslexia Victoria Support for our commitment to inclusive, research-based practices. We endorse and implement educational approaches such as Direct Instruction (DI), Systematic Synthetic Phonics (SSP), explicit teaching, decodable books, and audiobooks—all of which are integral to our literacy programs and classroom teaching.

Our intervention approach is not isolated; every strategy is designed to complement classroom instruction and build on what students are already learning. Regular data meetings and teacher collaboration ensure that interventions are closely monitored and adjusted based on student growth.
